In the Lonesome Scenes of Winter is a traditional song where the singer is scorned by the one she loves… only for him to change his mind, at which point she has already changed her mind! I liked that twist! Unlike many traditional songs, this does not have a Rond number; it is part of the Max Hunter Folk Song Collection as MFH #350. I have heard multiple versions, but the one that actually made an impression on me melodically was Cara Dillon’s version.
This arrangement has the lyrics under the melody. It is one of many songs I arranged for 22-string harp in the months after acquiring my 22-string Stoney End Brittany. The harp should be tuned to E flat major. This is not the most complex or interesting arrangement, but I liked it enough to write it down.
