This is a viola arrangement of “A Thousand Years”, a song featured in the movie The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and composed by Christina Perri and David Hodges. This piece is in the original key of Bb major and has lyrics and chords noted. The entire song can be played in first position on the viola but may sound better with shifts to 3rd position at, for example, m. 14.
A comment requested this piece for viola, so here it is. I already had a violin version and piano version on this site. The other arrangements were scored after listening to the official music video; this viola version is modified from my violin arrangement.
Copied and pasted notes from the violin version are: Surprisingly, this song is apparently a lullaby. . . . this should not be played too aggressively. For example, where I noted subito forte, it is broad rather than harsh. Have whoever is playing this listen to the song to understand the desired mood.
