The sheet music offered here is for “Over the Rainbow” from the film The Wizard of Oz. The music is by Harold Arlen and the lyrics are by E. Y. Harburg. It is ‘arranged’ by me. I hesitated to write ‘Arranged by’ for this item. I literally copied out the precise notes and chords. The only thing I made up was the bowing, which should be long and broad for the most part. (And now that I am looking properly, the bowing might want to be changed if we want to be really, really faithful to the sung song.) Maybe “Written Out By” would have been more appropriate?
Anyway, this version is faithful to the original song sung by the lovely Judy Garland. (Visit the Wikipedia article for this song to learn random facts.) This piece should be played with long, broad bowstrokes to get the wishful, wistful ballad feel. The last long bowstroke should be carefully measured out but played freely… and the diminuendo helps if you are not sure you can keep your bow going properly.

Thanks sooo much Sophie, I am going to play this for my mum on mothers day because she really loves classical-type music and she has been helping me learn the violin for 8 years.
Thank you so much Sophie, for Over the Rainbow music sheet, this is perfect for my 10 year old son to play for his first talent show. I really appreciate it. Do you happen to have the piano accompaniment for this?
I am afraid not, sorry. Perhaps your son’s accompanist can use the chords noted to make up something. I hope the talent show goes well!
